Isabel Granada passes away at 41

MANILA – Isabel Granada, a show-business veteran who shot to fame as a child and teen star in the 1980s, has passed away. She was 41.


Geryk Genasky Aguas, Granada’s ex-husband, confirmed in a report on dzMM Sunday morning, Manila time.

The family was to make an official statement at 1 a.m.

The actress died at the hospital where she was rushed after she collapsed at a fan meet and greet event in Doha, Qatar on October 25.

Granada was in show business for almost 40 years, starting as a teen star in the 1980s when she joined the popular TV show “That’s Entertainment.”

She then went on to work on numerous television and movie projects.

Among her movies include “Bakit Madalas ang Tibok ng Puso” (1986), “Shake Rattle and Roll 2” (1990), “Chickboys” (1994), “Ligaya ang Itawag Mo Sa Akin” (1997), and “Hubad sa Ilalim ng Buwan” (1999) among others.


She also appeared in some ABS-CBN shows such as “Sa Puso Ko Iingatan Ka," "Got to Believe," "Wansapanataym," "Maalaala Mo Kaya," "It's Showtime."

Her last project with the Kapamilya network was “A Love to Last” where she played the role of Cris, who is Anton Noble’s (Ian Veneracion) friend.

Besides being an actress, Granada also ventured into the music scene. She has released three recording albums in 1990, 1998 and 2000, and has staged a number of concerts.

Posting their photos together, he wrote, "Malaki ang naging parte mo sa aking buhay.. Binigyan mo ako ng isang gwapot (sic) matalinong anak, makulay ang 14 yrs nating pagsasama… Sa lahat… Mula sa aking pusot kaluluwa.. Maraming maraming salamat… pahinga ka na… paalam Isa…"

Isabel and Jericho have a son named Hubert.
